North Hero Buttons Termed Hot Sellers

WASHINGTON — A button with a picture of former White House aide Lt. Col. Oliver L. North and the words, “North, American Hero,” is a fast-selling item at the headquarters of College Republicans, a spokesman says.
The group distributed about 200 buttons on Capitol Hill and through phone requests in the first 1 1/2 days they were offered, Executive Director Dennis Kilcoyne said Friday.
The button sells for $2, with proceeds earmarked for a legal defense fund set up for North, who is under investigation for his role in the diversion of Iranian arms-sales profits to the Nicaraguan rebels.
