An Orange resident wearing a baseball cap and jacket was booked for two bank robberies that occurred within an hour of each other after a sheriff’s deputy spotted a silver Honda allegedly used in one of the holdups, authorities said. The first robbery occurred at 12:28 p.m. at the Laguna Hills Wells Fargo Bank at 24791 Alicia Parkway. A bank teller handed over $907 after being given a note and being shown the handle of a revolver, Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Burinda said. Burinda said that less than an hour later, at 1:15 p.m., Mission Viejo’s First Interstate Bank, at 26281 Avery Parkway, was held up. An hour later, Sheriff’s Patrol Sgt. Richard White arrested Greg Ricardo Arena, 34, on Interstate 5 at Oso Parkway. In an unrelated incident, a Home Savings & Loan at 1107 S. Harbor Blvd. was held up, Fullerton police said. The suspect was described as a thin Mexican man, about 25, with dark, curly hair and gold-rim glasses. According to Fullerton Sgt. Bud Lathrop, the suspect handed the teller a note saying he had a gun but never displayed one. The teller gave the man an unknown amount of cash, Lathrop said.
