Monrovia : New Zoning Approved
The City Council has approved a new medium-density zone designation for the central portion of the city, where three- and four-unit apartments have been built in predominantly single-family neighborhoods.
The new zone allows for one unit per 3,500 square feet instead of one unit per 2,500 square feet. A conditional-use permit must be obtained for consolidation of lots for multi-unit buildings.
The city adopted the new zoning so that single-family neighborhoods could be preserved while medium-density housing is built along major north-south streets in the central area, a city spokesman said.
