California’s two major rice marketing cooperatives had good news this year for their members. Farmers Rice, which last year said it would concentrate sales efforts on the less volatile domestic market, will pay $7.54 per 100-pound sack of medium-grain rice for the marketing year ended Aug. 31, a 7.9% increase from the year before and a second straight year of price improvement. RGA, which last year shocked its members by mailing out bills instead of checks at final settlement time, will distribute $7.06 for medium-grain rice, up about 26%.
