Point Loma Qualifies 4 Runners for National

Runners Cam Matson and Denis Kiely of Point Loma Nazarene College finished first and second in the men’s competition of the NAIA District 3 cross-country championships Saturday at La Mirada. However, the eight-team meet was won by Westmont College of Santa Barbara, which had five runners among the top eight finishers.
Matson, with a time of 25 minutes 28 seconds; Kiely (25:34) and teammate Mac Williamson (26:56) qualified for the Nov. 15 NAIA National Championships at Kenosha, Wis. Also qualifying was Point Loma’s Brenda Myers, who finished fifth in the women’s competition with a time of 19:29.
Point Loma’s women’s team finished fourth out of nine schools.
