THE READERS DO THE WALKING
We noted last week that Tom Cruise, veteran actor of eight films, has won his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We asked readers to contribute their faves. Many did, some seriously, some not. Samples:
At least Chuck Norris can handle Hollywood Boulevard single-handedly--defending truth, justice and the American way. And hell, his dimples ain’t so bad, either.
LINDA HARRIS

Gary Shandling deserves a star because he has the best-looking hair of all “The Tonight Show” guest hosts.
CAROL CRESSLER
El Segundo
The only obvious nomination is that of Ted Turner for his contribution to color vandalism. With a star, we could step on Turner just like he has stepped on Hollywood.
GREGORY FARMER

Vanna White and Pat Sajak should share a star because between them. They have as much clout as Tom Cruise.
AGNES C. SANTIAGO

Did I read it wrong? After all these years, Paul Newman has not been offered a star on Hollywood Boulevard?! Why, if anyone is a true Movie Star, it’s Paul Newman. He’s our Hud, our Hombre, our Luke! He’s Butch, he’s Harry. He’s Great! And he’s Joanne Woodward’s husband! How much better can you rate in Hollywood?
If his (and her) star isn’t there, then the meaning of the star walk is just a bunch of hype. And to heck with Hollywood.
