Highland Hall, Royal Announce Coaches

Dave Desmond has been named the third baseball coach in three years at Highland Hall, a small private school in Northridge.

Desmond, an assistant coach and general manager of the semipro Valley Dodgers, inherits a program that has not qualified for the Southern Section playoffs since 1981, one year after the school started playing baseball. He was a pitcher on the school’s first team and holds school records in wins, strikeouts and earned-run average.

Royal High has also announced new coaches. Bob Ferguson, the girls volleyball coach, will coach the girls basketball team, and Louie Gutierrez will coach the girls soccer team.
