Continued strength in major segments contributed to higher sales and earnings for Di Giorgio Corp. of San Francisco in the third quarter of this year. Profits from food processing and distribution and building materials segments increased sharply, compared to the same period last year. During the third quarter, the company adopted Financial Accounting Standard No. 87, Employers’ Accounting For Pensions, for 1986. This change increased earnings for the three months ended Sept. 30 by approximately $400,000.
