China set up its first AIDS prevention team after four Chinese were found to be carrying the virus because of being “injected with imported medicine,” the New China News Agency reported. A Peking-based World Health Organization official said she believes it is the first time China has reported its own citizens contracting acquired immune deficiency syndrome. One foreign visitor is reported to have died of AIDS in China. The new AIDS team, 13 experts on virology and epidemiology, will combine Western and traditional Chinese medicine.
