Christian Wins Speedway Main Event

Alan Christian of Huntington Beach won the four-lap scratch main of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa Friday in front of 7,248.

Keith Chrisco of Whittier was second, Mike Faria of Colton third and Steve Lucero of Riverside fourth.

Louis Kossuth of La Habra won the five-lap handicap main event. Jim O’Dell of Huntington Beach was second, Scott Brown of New York third, Ronnie Correy of Fullerton fourth, Dubb Ferrell of Whittier fifth and Mark Weaver of Elsinore sixth.

In the old-timers division, Sonny Nutter of Van Nuys won the four-lap main event. Steve Nutter of Redondo Beach was second, Billy Grey of Topanga Canyon third and Jan Ballard of Westminster fourth.

Bruce Penhall defeated Dennis Sigalos, 2-1, in the featured match race.
