Sheriff’s deputies arrested a suspect Wednesday night in in the shooting death of a UC San Diego student in Leucadia, the county Sheriff’s Department reported.
Iloephonso Perez Martinez was arrested after deputies stopped a car in the Encinitas area that matched the description given by witnesses at the shooting last weekend.
Perez, 25, a laborer, is being held without bail at the County Jail at Vista pending arraignment. Perez’s address was not known.
Greg Toshio Nakatani, 23, of Carlsbad, was shot in the parking lot of Alfonso’s Taco Shop about 1:30 a.m. Saturday after an argument with two men. The argument reportedly started when one of the men hit Nakatani’s car while opening his car door.
