Westwood : Devon Moratorium Extended
The Los Angeles City Council has extended a moratorium on construction and demolition along two blocks of Devon Avenue for an additional 180 days. The extension was granted to allow time for preservation plans to be developed.
One option is the designation of the area as a historical preservation overlay zone, which sets up a permanent committee to review all demolitions, additions and new construction.
Most of the apartment buildings along the street were built between 1938 and 1949. The first moratorium on building permits went into effect March 11.
