United Artists said it changed its name to MGM/UA Communications Co., reflecting its recently completed acquisition of certain operations of MGM Entertainment Co. . . . Occidental Petroleum completed its acquisition of Diamond Shamrock Chemicals Co., a unit of Diamond Shamrock, for about $850 million.
