An Upland man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter shortly after an 11-year-old boy crossing the street in Orange was killed by a hit-and-run driver, Orange police said. Cord Evan Holz of Garden Grove, who had lived on the street where the fatal accident occurred until a few months ago, was killed as he crossed the street to spend the night with a friend, said the boy’s grandmother, Mary Howard of Stanton. Orange Police Sgt. Milt Galbraith said a witness to the accident at Lewis Street and El Prado Avenue gave the car’s license number to police, who determined that the car was registered to Nicholas Charles Geir, 34, of Upland. Upland police were notified and were waiting for Geir as he returned home, Galbraith said.
