NFL Exhibition Roundup : Cowboys Make It Easy for the Steelers, 41-28

Bryan Hinkle returned a blocked field goal 65 yards for a touchdown, and Rick Woods scored on a 22-yard interception return as the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Dallas Cowboys, 41-28, Friday night at Irving, Tex.

The victory was the first in three exhibition appearances for the Steelers, while the Cowboys fell to 0-4.

Hinkle picked up the blocked kick by rookie Max Zendejas, who is trying to unseat veteran Dallas placekicker Rafael Septien, and ran untouched into the end zone 58 seconds before halftime.

Earlier, Woods picked off a pass from Dallas quarterback Danny White and scored as time ran out in the first quarter.

White hit Tony Hill with a 77-yard scoring strike in the second quarter.

Dallas tailback Tony Dorsett, who said he wants to be traded because of the signing of former U.S. Football League star Herschel Walker, ran 22 yards for a first-quarter touchdown.

Dorsett, who received a loud chorus of boos when introduced to the Texas Stadium crowd of 54,299, set up the Steelers’ first score when he fumbled at the Dallas 22.

Seattle 27, Minnesota 17--Rookie free agent Sean Salisbury passed 57 yards to Byron Franklin for a touchdown with 8:22 left at Seattle to break a 17-17 tie and hand the Vikings their first loss in three exhibition games.

The former USC quarterback completed 6 of 9 passes for 120 yards in his three offensive series as Seattle improved its exhibition record to 2-1. Salisbury has four touchdown passes in three exhibitions.

Norm Johnson, who kicked a 27-yard field goal to put the Seahawks ahead, 17-14, in the third quarter, booted a 31-yarder with 1:56 remaining.
