San Marino : Tax Measure on Ballot

The City Council has approved a measure for the Nov. 4 ballot to renew San Marino’s special taxes for police, fire and paramedic services. The measure proposes to raise up to $6.2 million over a four-year period by levying an annual parcel tax, based on lot size, of between $188 and $564 on each property owner. The ballot measure includes another tax of between $30 and $32 a year to pay for paramedic services.

San Marino currently has two separate assessments to cover the public safety costs, both of which will expire next June. The parcel tax has been challenged in a lawsuit that is now before the California Supreme Court.
