Fullerton : Cal State Selects New Director of Admissions

James C. Blackburn, director of admissions at the University of Northern Colorado since 1983, will become Cal State Fullerton’s new director of admissions effective Aug. 4.
He succeeds Mildred Scott, who has been the acting admissions director since 1983. Scott will assume responsibility for undergraduate and foreign student admissions.
Blackburn was director of admissions at the University of North Carolina at Asheville from 1979-81 and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 1974-77.
He holds a doctorate from Indiana University, where he held a Homstedt Fellowship in 1978-79. In 1984-85, he was an education policy fellow with the Institute for Educational Leadership, and in 1985 he was named a “scholar of the university” at the University of Northern Colorado. He has been editor of the journal of the American Assn. of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers since 1984.
Cal State Fullerton said Blackburn was picked from a field of more than 50 applicants from throughout the nation.
