Newport Beach : River Drowning Victim Identified

A body found on the California shore of the Colorado River has been identified as that of a Newport Beach man who drowned on the Fourth of July, a spokeswoman for the Riverside County Sheriff said Tuesday.
John Charles Buffington, 38, drowned at Headgate Dam, near Parker, Ariz., according to a report made to the Colorado River Indian Tribe Police Department.
Buffington’s body was found Monday, downstream of the Red Rooster Campground, 21 miles north of Blythe. The Riverside County coroner is investigating his death.
