Sanford C. Sigoloff, chairman and chief executive of Wickes, will serve as acting president of both Builders Emporium and Grace Home Centers West under an interim operating plan designed to integrate the recently acquired Home Centers into the Builders Emporium chain. Meanwhile, the two companies will continue to operate separately. Home Centers operates the Ole’s chain in California.
Santa Monica-based Wickes said it is currently searching for a new president of the combined Home Centers West, headquartered in Diamond Bar, and Builders Emporium of Irvine. Sean Lee, formerly president of Home Centers West, will serve as senior consultant during the reorganization but will leave thereafter “by mutual agreement” to pursue other interests.
The presidency at Builders Emporium has been vacant since March when Hal Smith resigned to become president and chief executive of Ernst Home & Nursery in Seattle.
