Sonny Hill’s Philadelphia all-star high school basketball team will play three games against some of the best prep teams in Southern California this week.
Hill runs spring and summer youth programs that are regarded by many as the best in the nation.
The most formidable challenge to the Philadelphia team, which played a Los Angeles team on Wednesday and plays an Orange County team on Friday, probably will be at 8 p.m. Saturday at Valley College.
The opponent is Mid-Valley, the top team in the American Roundball Corp. The Mid-Valley team features Sean Higgins and Chris Mills of Fairfax, Don MacLean of Simi Valley, Kevin Franklin of Taft and James Moses of Serra. At 6:30 p.m., the ARC Ventura County team, featuring Gary Gray of Granada Hills, will play Rockfish.
Cost for each game is $5 for adults, $3 for students with ID card and $2 for those under 12. Money raised will go to Athletes for Academic Success.
