Two North Korean delegates disagreed over whether there was progress during the first day of talks at Lausanne, Switzerland, in the latest effort to resolve a dispute between North and South Korea over venues for the 1988 Olympic Games.
When asked how the daylong series of separate talks between International Olympic Committee officials and delegations from the two sides had gone, Chung Guk Chin, vice president of the North Korean Olympic Committee, replied: “No progress.”
Another member of the delegation, asked the same question, spread his thumb and index finger wide apart, then brought them slightly closer together.
