About $2.5 million in gifts was given to the University of Houston’s athletic department, but no records were kept on who received the money or how it was spent, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Houston’s athletic department has only skimpy records for another $500,000 in gifts collected in the 1984-85 school year, with few receipts showing how the money was spent, the paper said.
Before the 1984-85 athletic year, records don’t exist, athletic department officials said.
