Norwalk : School Land to Be Sold

The Little Lake City School District last week approved a resolution to sell 2 1/2 acres of one of its larger school sites to the Norwalk Community Redevelopment Agency for expansion of a shopping center at the corner of Imperial Highway and Norwalk Boulevard.
The sale of a portion of Paddison Elementary School, a 12-acre site that will shrink to about 9 1/2 acres, will make it a “nicer, more compact school,” said district Supt. John Pulice. The terms of the agreement call for the agency to pay the Santa Fe Springs-based district $10,000 cash at the close of escrow and $1.37 million over a 10-year period.
The agency will also redesign part of the school’s playground and athletic fields, including handball and basketball courts. A block fence will be built to separate the school and the Paddison Square Shopping Center.
