Cerritos : Chamber Chief on Panel
The City Council has appointed Sherman Kappe, president of the Chamber of Commerce, to the Planning Commission. Kappe, 41, replaces Gloria Rousseau.
Traditionally, each council member recommends one resident for a seat on the commission. The council than accepts or rejects the recommendation. Councilman Alex J. Beanum’s choice was Rousseau, appointed in 1983. When Beanum was defeated in the April election by Ann B. Joynt, Rousseau stepped down.
Joynt then nominated Kappe, a local real estate broker, and the council approved. Kappe, who has lived in Cerritos since 1971, said he has known Joynt for a number of years and worked on her campaign. He will serve a two-year term on the commission.
