Existing single-family homes in the state were sold at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 391,721 units in March, compared to a 363,142-unit pace in February, the California Assn. of Realtors said. March’s sale rate was 0.8% above the 388,612-unit pace of a year earlier. March was the ninth consecutive month in which resales topped year-earlier figures, the trade group said. Much of the gain was attributed to the downward trend in interest rates. The median price of a California home last month was $129,849, up 5.5% from February’s median price of $123,112 and 13.9% above the $113,956 median price recorded in March, 1985.
