Record Rating for ‘Today’ Show

NEW YORK — NBC’s “Today” show attracted the largest audience ever for a morning news-and-information program last week when it was broadcast from South America, figures from the A.C. Nielsen Co. showed today.
When “Today” spent Feb. 10-14 in Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, it recorded a 6.9 rating, meaning an average of 5.9 million households watched a given minute of the show’s 10 hours. ABC’s “Good Morning America,” which spent last Friday in Quebec City, Canada, was second with a 5.3 rating. The “CBS Morning News” averaged a 3.3.
