A Bell man was fatally wounded on a downtown Los Angeles street by a police officer who opened fire after he saw the man reach for a holstered gun in his waistband, authorities said. Officer Richard Duran, 33, fired five shots, striking Antonio Santillan several times in the chest and abdomen, Sgt. Sid Nuckles said. Santillan, 37, died about two hours later at County-USC Medical Center.
