First Lady’s Staff Chief Plans to Quit

WASHINGTON — The First Lady’s chief of staff plans to quit the post he held for three months to join the consulting firm of Michael Deaver & Associates, Nancy Reagan’s press spokeswoman said Friday.

Lee Verstandig, who replaced James Rosebush as Mrs. Reagan’s chief of staff last November, will remain on the job until a successor is named.

Elaine Crispen, press secretary to Nancy Reagan, said the First Lady “is grateful and most appreciative of the service Lee has not only given to her, but to the President.”
