Contributions to Zoo

It is with sadness that I write in rememberance of San Diego Zoo president Sheldon Campbell, who died recently. San Diegans and everyone else who has had the pleasure of visiting our zoo or Wild Animal Park owe a debt to his tireless effort and enthusiasm to help preserve and enhance our city’s pride and joy.
I came to know Sheldon when I served on the zoo’s Board of Trustees and found him to be intensely interested in ideas for bettering the facilities for their residents and visitors alike. He was especially keen on developing animal exchanges with China and played a major role in the zoo’s exhibition of the golden monkeys.
As we mourn his passing, we can take some consolation in the beautiful resourses, the zoo and Wild Animal Park, to which he made such important contributions.
