Oklahoma Coach Barry Switzer was asked before the game whether he was serious last week when he said he had voted for 11-0-1 Fresno State as No. 1 in the UPI poll.

“Sweeney asked me the same thing,” he said, referring to Fresno State Coach Jim Sweeney.

“No,” he said, “I think we’ll have to forget about Fresno State, even if they’re the only undefeated team in the country.”
