The Soviet Union’s national basketball team beat the United States, 111-92, and France edged Czechoslovakia, 92-90, on two free throws by Stephane Ostrowski with 49 seconds left in an international tournament at Coubertin Stadium in Paris.
The Soviets won the tournament in 1979 and 1980, and play France in today’s final.
Arvidas Sabonis, a 7-2 center, led the Soviets with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Mike Davis scored with 27 points for the United States and Ed Neely had 16.
