Pepperdine Wins on Polee Shot

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Dwayne Polee scored 15 points, including the game-winning basket with four seconds to go, to lead Pepperdine to a 62-61 victory over Evansville Monday night in a nonconference college basketball game.
Grant Gondrezick had a team-high 16 points for the Waves, while Curtis Jackson matched that number for Evansville.
Evansville led, 32-31, at halftime and moved to an eight-point lead with 11:45 gone. However, the Waves came back, led by Gondrezick.
With Evansville leading, 61-60, Paul Schaefer of the Aces missed a free throw with 22 seconds left in the game. Polee grabbed the ball and hit a 10-foot jumper with four seconds to go to clinch the victory.
Pepperdine improved to 8-2, while Evansville fell to 3-6.
