Gov. George Deukmejian has gone ahead of Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley by eight percentage points in the latest California Poll, the Field Institute announced in San Francisco. Although neither has yet formally declared himself a candidate in next year’s gubernatorial contest, the poll showed Deukmejian, a Republican, leading Bradley, a Democrat, 51% to 43%. In an August survey, the mayor led the governor 50% to 44%. The new telephone survey was made between Nov. 18 and Dec. 2 and covered 757 registered California voters representing a political cross section, the institute said.
