Comunity to Be Built on Quarry Site
An old quarry on the slopes of San Diego’s historic Murphy Canyon above the Interstate 15-Aero Drive interchange, is envisioned as a master-planned, mixed-use community to be built out over 10 to 15 years.
Stonecrest, the new $1.1-billion, 300-acre community, is a project of the Daley family, the Hooberman Group and Old Stone Development Co.
The site plan is terraced in four rings of mixed-use development to accomodate high-tech, commercial, retail, residential and recreational sectors. The architecture, by Edward Larrabee Barnes Associates and Tucker, Sadler & Associates, will be complementary to the canyon terrain.
Landscape architect Roger DeWeese Associates has outlined a flow of meandering streams, lake, jogging trails. Large sculptures and other original artwork will be used at the entrance to buildings and in public areas. Signage will be undertaken by the Wissing Gengler Group Inc.
