It’s Thanksgiving. Let them eat Peanuts . . . while listening to “We Are the World.”
Months ago, more than 175 syndicated cartoonists pledged today’s panels to USA for Africa and, as a result, every newspaper cartoon character from Mike Doonesbury to Hagar the Horrible is force-feeding readers thought balloons filled with anti-famine polemics instead of turkey humor.
Radio networks from coast to coast are calling it “Comic Relief” and adding their own special broadcast programming to end international hunger. Mutual, CBS, United Stations, ABC, Westwood One and NBC have all pledged some “end hunger” radio time, even if it’s just a few public-service announcements.
