National Zoo officials in Washington believe that Ling-Ling the giant panda is pregnant and will give birth before the end of the year, a zoo spokesman said. Hopes that Ling-Ling will soon give birth were reinforced when a second urine test came back positive just over a week ago. Ling-Ling, who lives at the zoo’s panda house with her mate, Hsing-Hsing, has given birth twice before, but one cub died shortly after birth and the other was stillborn.
