Silicon Systems Cites Slump as Profits Drop

With a continuing slump in the computer semi-conductor market, Silicon Systems Inc. in Tustin reported a profit of $338,000 for its fourth quarter ended Sept. 28, 1985, down 88% from last year’s final quarter net income of $2.8 million. Revenues for the quarter totaled $14.4 million, down 22% from $18.5 million.
For the year, the company posted earnings of $3.05 million, compared to last year’s profits of $8.1 million. Net income for 1984 included an extraordinary credit of $1.1 million. Annual revenues were $54.5 million, down 4% from the $56.6 million in sales for last year.
Silicon Systems specializes in the design and production of custom and standard application specific integrated circuit (chips) for the telecommunications and microperipheral markets.
