Two Youths Seized After Prosecutor Is Shot With Arrow

FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. — A law enforcement official remained in an intensive-care unit Sunday after being shot with a razor-tipped arrow, and two youths were charged in the attack.
Lincoln County Assistant Dist. Atty. Mike McCown was struck in his right side by the aluminum arrow Friday night as he stood in his bedroom.
John Blankenship, 17, McCown’s neighbor, and a 15-year-old were arrested and charged with “shooting into an occupied house,” which is a felony.
Doctors removed several inches of McCown’s colon and repaired part of a kidney. Larry Wallace, a special agent for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, said: “Probably the only thing that saved his life was that the arrow had to go through the glass and the drapes.”
