Edison Takes the Plunge, Drops Out of Prep Football Poll

The top four teams in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep football poll remained the same, but Edison High School dropped out of the poll after losing to Westminster, 24-14. The Chargers were ranked fifth last week.
Undefeated Servite, coming off an impressive 41-6 win over Pius X in its Angelus League opener, is ranked No. 1. Mission Viejo is No. 2 and is one of four South Coast League teams in the top 10.
In the week’s featured game, 10th-ranked Irvine (5-1) will play host to sixth-ranked Capistrano Valley (5-1) at 7:30 Friday night in Irvine Stadium.
