The Fall of the Trojan Empire? This May Be Bruins’ Town Now
- Share via
There’s more than a touch of irony, to all loyal Westwooders a sense of poetic justice, and no doubt a draft of hemlock out Figueroa way, that on the very night Terry Donahue became the all-time winningest coach in UCLA history, USC was biting the dust ignominiously to lightly regarded Baylor.
Donahue has quietly forged a substantive, winning program that has a sense of continuity never realized before during all the dominant Trojan years. Terry’s program has produced three consecutive victories over USC and four in the past five years.
The record reveals moot testimony to the gradual changing of the guard in collegiate football on the West Coast, particularly as it relates to the two dominant local universities. This has been an amazing accomplishment for Donahue and his excellent staff.
