HRT Industries Inc. announced that Allan Sherman has been named president and chief executive of its Zodys discount store division.
Sherman, 41, was promoted from executive vice president and had been acting president and chief executive since April, when Edwin G. Roberts, a longtime retailing veteran, resigned for personal reasons. No successor was named to Sherman as executive vice president.
Before joining Zodys as a general merchandise manager in July, 1984, Sherman had been senior vice president of merchandising for Gold Circle Stores, a Columbus, Ohio-based unit of Federated Department Stores.
Los Angeles-based HRT Industries is a wholly owned unit of McCrory Corp., a subsidiary of Rapid-American Corp. of New York.
