B. F. Goodrich will close an Oklahoma tire plant.

The 40-year-old tire manufacturing plant in Miami, Okla., will be closed in February, resulting in the loss of 1,900 jobs. The plant manufactures tires for farm equipment, off-road vehicles and heavy-duty trucks. Goodrich Tire Group President Robert A. Eisentrout said the company has been losing money in the large-tire segments of the overall tire market, primarily because of depressed market conditions and the growing number of imports sold in the United States.
