Chris Jackson, a starting guard on Mater Dei High School’s Southern Section 4-A championship team in 1983, has left UC Santa Barbara and has enrolled at Rancho Santiago College.
Jackson, a 6-foot 3-inch sophomore, started three games for the Gauchos as a freshman and averaged 1.3 points per game. He had a season high of 10 points against the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
“The decision to leave was totally up to Chris,” a school spokesman said. “The coaches were very happy with him, but he wanted to leave.”
Jackson was a four-year starter for Mater Dei and led the Monarchs to a combined 57-5 record in his junior and senior seasons.
