UTICA, N.Y. — Two youths sleeping in a garbage bin were injured today when they were dropped into a sanitation truck, but escaped death in the vehicle’s compactor because the driver heard their screams, police said.
The two were identified as Rick Linder, 15, and Charles Dailey, 18. Linder was unhurt but Dailey was in guarded condition after surgery on his legs and feet.
