Old Tickets

Regarding Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III’s jaywalking ticket: I sympathize! I got a parking ticket Jan. 11 and paid by check the next day.
My check was cashed and returned to me. But alas, two months later I received a “Notice of Illegal Parking,” including a bail amount. I called to clarify the matter and was finally told to forget it as long as I had my canceled check.
Well, apparently nothing was solved because my registration renewal arrived in June with the same ticket being shown as unpaid.
I took my canceled check to Department of Motor Vehicles to clear up the matter and received a temporary permit for driving my car with the verbal statement-- “check with DMV the middle of October if you haven’t received your permanent tags.” I wonder if a warrant will be issued for my arrest?
If this is how the system works, no wonder so many cars have expired licenses in California.
