Architects’ Task Force to Aid Victims of Baldwin Hills Fire

The Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects has formed a task force to help victims of the Baldwin Hills fire. They may contact the task force at the chapter office, (213) 659-2282.
Four to six architects will answer questions that homeowners affected by the fire may have about rebuilding, fire-resistant construction, building codes and other matters. The chapter also will help homeowners contact their home’s original architect or refer a new architect, and will provide technical assistance.
The task force is chaired by architects Charles Lewis of Stull & Lee, Los Angeles, and Norma Sklarek of her own Pacific Palisades firm. Members include Gene Brooks, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo professor; Miller Fong, Mark Hall, Thomas Jeffries, Carl Maston, architects, and Edward Niles, USC professor and architect.
Also, Vincent Proby Jr., architect; Gene Ramos, interior designer whose home was destroyed in the fire; George Rand, UCLA professor; Gary Russell, architect; Benito Sinclair, Building & Safety Commission; Leslee Temple, landscape architect, and Toshikazy Terasawa and Harold Williams, architects.
