If police order your car towed away, it will soon cost you at least $6 more to retreive it. The City Council approved a rate increase to $48 from $42 for Van Lingen Body Shop Inc., which has a contract with the city for police-initiated towing. Storage fees were also increased to $8 from $6 a day.
The fees, which match increases recently approved by the Los Angeles Police Commission, will take effect 30 days after a second reading of the ordinance on Tuesday.
