USIU Gets Hockey Assistant from Massachusetts

SAN DIEGO — Joe Mallen, hockey coach at the University of Massachusetts--Boston, has been named assistant hockey coach at United States International University.
Mallen, a native of Boston, had coached at Massachusetts since the 1978-79 hockey season. He led the team from club status to its present NCAA Division II affiliation. In 1981-82, Massachusetts won the East Coast Athletic Conference Division III championships. Mallen’s overall record at the school is 89-48-3.
