24 Reported Dead in Sewer Blast in China

PEKING — A sewage pipe exploded on a crowded street in the southwestern city of Chongqing, killing at least 24 people and injuring 92, officials said Saturday. Officials in Chongqing (Chungking) said the blast occurred Thursday near the downtown People’s Hall, wrecking 80 houses and damaging 130 others.
