Panel Approves Re-Striping Plan

A plan to re-stripe a span of the San Diego Freeeay that for years has frustrated thousands of rush-hour commuters has been approved by the California Transportation Commission.
The commission, which met Thursday in Sacramento, voted unanimously to allocate $10 million to re-stripe the so-called South Bay Curve, an 11-mile stretch of Interstate 405 from the Marina Freeway to Artesia Boulevard.
Work on the project, which will add another lane in each direction to the eight-lane highway by utilizing a portion of the median strip and slightly shrinking the size of existing lanes, is expected to start in 1988.
